Thailand Printed Circuit Association (THPCA), as a key driving force in Thailand’s electronics industry, is proud to have played a pivotal role in facilitating and connecting strategic collaboration among the public sector, academia, and global industry leaders, leading to the signing of an MOU between Lumentum, the Thai Microelectronics Center (TMEC), and Mahanakorn University of Technology (MUT).
This collaboration is not merely an investment. It represents a foundational step in redefining Thailand’s position in future industries, particularly in Photonics and Semiconductors, which serve as critical backbones of AI, Data Centers, and advanced communication systems.
The MOU, established under a five-year framework, has received strong support from Professor Dr. Yodchanan Wongsawat, Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI). The signing was attended by key leaders across sectors, including Professor Dr. Supachai Pathumnakul, Permanent Secretary of MHESI; Michael Hurlston, President and Chief Executive Officer of Lumentum; Kok Wei Ho, Senior Vice President of Operations at Lumentum; Dr. Adisorn Tuantranont, Director of the Thai Microelectronics Center; and Professor Dr. Panavy Pookaiyaudom, President of Mahanakorn University of Technology.
This partnership focuses on developing high-skilled talent, co-creating industry-aligned curricula, establishing advanced photonics and microelectronics laboratories, and enabling hands-on learning opportunities through close collaboration with industry. The goal is to build a strong and sustainable talent pipeline that supports the rapid growth of advanced technology industries.
It also reflects a concrete implementation of the Public-Private-Academia partnership model, marking a significant step for Thailand in moving from a manufacturing base toward becoming a global hub for advanced technology and innovation.
THPCA firmly believes that building a strong ecosystem requires seamless collaboration across all sectors. This has been, and continues to be, our core mission. This collaboration will further extend and take shape at
